Sometimes by Goff James

Sometimes I’m happy
Sometimes I am filled with doubts

Sometimes I listen
Sometimes I am lonely bowed
Sometimes I remember
Sometimes I hear death’s footsteps

Sometimes I’m present
Sometimes I dance in night’s dark
Sometimes I’m plagued by voices
Sometimes I’m silent in my thoughts

Sometimes I utter pain barbed screams
Sometimes I understand
Sometimes I’m not here
Sometimes I feel love’s warm words

Sometimes I am afraid
Sometimes I dream morrow’s dreams
Sometimes… ah… sometimes…

Spotlight Poetry – Mountains Cloud Cloaked Rise – A Poem by Goff James

IMAGE PAINTING TITLE MOONLIT LANDSCAPE WITH MOUNTAINS AND RIVER ARTIST KARL FREY POEM MOUNTAINS CLOUD CLOAKED RISE POET GOFF JAMES

Mountains Cloud Cloaked Rise by Goff James

Mountains cloud cloaked rise
Heaven’s fragrance transient embraced
River wild cascades

Starlight sparkling wakes
Pine trees towering whisper soft
Shadows purple hemmed

Smooth cool night’s breeze drifts
Beauty’s awed silence distilled
Fishes weary dream

In a Quiet Place by Goff James

Is two minutes
Too much time to ask

To remember in our pleasant days
Of freedom
The quiet places where
Those whose bones

And dreams lie graved neath
No man’s land’s distant
Poppied pastures and
Desert scorching sands

Countless sacred lives
Sacrificed
Trapped in horror’s besieged
Nightmares where

Time motionless hangs haunting
Beneath the furnaced sky
Sprayed in memories of
Terror’s darkest fears when

Guns thundered
Shells erupted
Earth exploded
And daylight shadow scarred

Bled fatigued faded
Into bestial oblivion and
Shattered bodies pleading
Cried aloud in

Merciless agonies
Smothered by
Battle’s murderous rage
Innocence’s blood tortured defiled

Seeped war torn into
Hell’s gangrenous bowel
Is two minutes
Too much to ask
To remember in our pleasant days

Poetry – Matilda the Tortoise – A Poem by Goff James

The image shows a spray of red berries on a black background on which is written a poem titled Matilda the Tortoise by the poet Goff James. The poem reads;
Matilda the tortoise,
Reptilian of great resource,
Renowned escapee.
O’er the garden path she creeps
Neath the broken picket fence
Wearing courage’s crown.
Living on her wits she strays
Seeking freedom’s ways.

How the Night Turns into Day by Goff James

How the night turns into day
How fair morning golden wakes

How the sun sails o’er the sky
How the bees sip the flowers
How joy’s birdsong fills the breeze
How the ocean ebbs and flows

How the fishes swim and shoal
How sweet Spring turns into Summer
How the flowers glorious blossom
How flamed sunset sleep-eyed fades

How dusk’s fragrance melts into darkness
How the barn owl silent hovers
How the moonlight dancing gleams
How the stars bright jewelled sparkle

How heartache’s barbed pain wounds
How love’s silk threads woven heal
How life’s journey sweeping wanders
How chilled winter autumn’s harvest gleans

How the greenwood leafless withers
How the night turns into day
