Welcome to Conversation Corner

“Art is not what you see, but what you make others see.”

Edgar Degas

“Creativity is allowing yourself to make mistakes. Art is knowing which ones to keep.”

Scott Adams

A comprehensive definition of art implies that artistic works have existed for almost as long as mankind from early pre-historic art to contemporary art. This is a global phenomena and cannot just be restricted to the concept of modern western societies.

“Non-Western images are not well described in terms of art, and neither are medieval paintings that were made in the absence of humanist ideas of artistic value”.

James Elkins,

“Art is the most intense mode of individualism that the world has known.”

Oscar Wilde

“…photography is an art of observation. It’s about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.”

Elliott Erwitt
